Ball Sinker
Available in all sizes, these running sinkers are used in a wide variety of fishing situations. This type of sinker minimises drag on the bait once it has been taken.

 Snapper Lead
These are long tapered 'tear drop' shaped sinkers, whose shape lets them sink quickly without tumbling. The flat sides let them plane up off the bottom quickly, helping avoid snags - they are popular with off-shore anglers, and are available in most weights down to 15 gms.

Split Shot
These have a cut half way through and are crimped closed on the line to provide subtle variations in weight...used commonly in float fishing - their advantage being they can be added without altering the rig...but be careful not to fix too tightly as they can damage the line.

Barrel & Bean and Bug
These sinkers are all variations of the one type - all are useful in heavy currents because of their reduced water resistance and low snagging qualities...these are good sinkers used on floats or with ganged pilchard rigs.
