Limerick
Is a basic straight shank hook and is not easy for a fish to throw. A good general purpose hook (like the Kendall Kirby) but has a longer shank. This type of straight shanked hook is often used trolling, because the hook doesn't spin...causing the line to twist.A good hook when used on sharp-tooth fish - with the long shank giving some protection to the line.

 Viking
A good general purpose hook, popular with snapper fishermen.

 Beak or Suicide Pattern
This one hooks fish well and suits thick-cut chunky baits it also sits better in whole fish baits like pilchards than straight shank varieties. They are also good hooks for prawns and pudding mixes... a very strong hook.

 Seamaster
These large offset hooks...forged for optimum strength, are popular with fishermen after big game fish...they have a brazed eye, a wide, round-forged bend and the point is often bent back towards the shank for better penetration and holding power... this is a strong hook with good holding qualities.

Treble
Usually fitted to lures - it looks effective, but surprisingly many fish throw trebles easier than a single hook.
